OLAF and international customs authorities crack down on illegal trade in e-cigarettes
The Duty Free World Council thanks and congratulates the European Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF) and its Customs partners in over 30 countries for their work on a recent operation that seized over 94 million illicit e-cigarettes and heated tobacco products. The successful Joint Customs Operation is further evidence of the growing threat posed by illicit tobacco products - to law-abiding brands and retailers, but most especially to consumers. Violations included banned flavours, excessive nicotine levels, and unauthorised accessory devices. Some products also failed to meet safety, labelling, or composition standards.
