Heathrow’s year-on-year passenger numbers trebled to 62 million in 2022

Passenger numbers at London’s Heathrow Airport trebled to 62 million in 2022 – a growth rate unmatched by any other airport in the world last year, according to the hub.

While the rapid growth presented challenges, Heathrow has been successful in ‘getting as many people on their way as possible by keeping supply and demand in balance’. In line with these rising passenger figures, airports across the globe are expanding their offering, with a vast range of authentic, high-quality duty- and tax-free goods. Airports are increasingly reliant on these commercial and non-aeronautical revenues to support reinvestment, fund the development of their infrastructure, invest in new carrier routes, and keep landing fees down for passengers.

That is why Duty Free: Trusted, Transparent, Secure is coordinating a clear stance on behalf of the duty-free industry against illicit trade, counterfeiting, and intellectual property theft.
