Duty-Free industry highlights 2022
Although the sector got off to a slow start in 20022, travel retail had a remarkably successful year.
Retailers jumped back into profitability, airports, airlines, cruise ships, and borders saw an increasing number of passengers travelling, and new store openings and new product development moved apace.
Last year also saw the launch of the global campaign Duty Free: Trusted, Transparent, Secure campaign, to highlight the industry’s stance against, and dangers of, the illicit trade in counterfeit goods, and urge governments to do more.
