Dubai Duty Free set for record year as Q1 sales roar ahead

Dubai Duty Free is on track to exceed its previous annual sales record of US$2 billion, according to Executive Vice Chairman and CEO Colm McLoughlin.

The predicted 2023 sales figure will be reached even without the full recovery of passenger traffic at Dubai International Airport. Passenger volumes are anticipated to hit 79.8 million this year, still behind the 2019 figure of 86.4 million.

To protect this growth, the travel industry must make a concerted effort to stamp out criminal activity in 2023. Our industry boasts one of the most secure supply chains in the world and generates vital revenue for the aviation, travel, and tourism industries.

Only a zero-tolerance approach to criminality in duty free can ensure the continued recovery of the wider travel sector.
